Ticket Sales for Bok Test Picking Up

Residents from Bloemfontein are slowly but surely being bitten by the rugby bug.

Orange placards advertising Saturday's first test between the Springboks and Wales are up on most lampposts in the city streets.

Vendors are selling replica Springbok jerseys and other memorabilia on street corners and one can sense the excitement building up.

Word from the Free State Rugby Union is that ticket sales have started to pick up and should be sold out by Friday. By yesterday, a little more than 15 thousand tickets were sold but the union are confident of a full stadium on Saturday. Vodacom Park has been downgraded to a capacity of 30 thousand because of construction for the 2010soccer world cup.

When asked if he was worried about the slow ticket sales, Bok coach Peter de Villiers said South Africans have more important things to worry about in life given the worsening economic situation in the country.
