NFL Preview '08: Brett Favre Joins the AFC East

It is time to begin my division by division NFL '08 predictions.

AFC East
1. NE Patriots 14-2- AFC East Champions and Home-field Advantage
2. New York Jets 10-6- Wildcard Winner
3. Buffalo Bills 6-10
4. Miami Dolphins 4-12

There it is, my AFC East predictions. Two playoff teams this year in the Patriots and Jets. The Patriots are still considered by many, myself included, as the best team in football. They lost LB Roosevelt Colvin, CB Asante Samuel, and WR Donte Stallworth, but had a solid draft and bolstered other positions. The Pats also have the easiest schedule in the NFL, but I do not foresee perfection this year. The Jets have had the biggest offseason of any NFL team and look ready for a playoff run. QB Brett Favre, OL Damien Woody, OL Alan Faneca, and DT Kris Jenkins headline the new players that make this team a playoff contending team. The Jets also have an extremely favorable schedule. Losing MLB Jonathan Vilma will! hurt this team, but if the Jets keep their key guys healthy they should win a wildcard slot. Favre brings leadership and the two lineman NY brought in will do a great job protecting him. The Bills are an interesting team because they are not terrible, but not great. They are what I call a swing team, a team that could go either way. The Bills could go 9-7 or 8-8 or they could possibly end up 4-12. I have them slotted at 6-10 because their schedule is more difficult than it should be. The Dolphins went 1-15 last year and can only be on the way up. New head coach, new management, and lots of new players will give this team inconsistency. Look for Miami to be around the 4-5 win mark and pull off one big upset during the season. That is the AFC East Preview for the '08 season. Up next is the AFC North. Will Pittsburgh reign supreme, or will Cleveland, Cinci, or Baltimore shock the football world? Stay tuned to find out.
